Coach Danny Aguas is a USA Track & Field Certified Level 3 Endurance Coach (http://www.usatf.org/), USTFCCCA Certified Technical Coach (USTFCCCA), USTFCCCA Certified Endurance Coach, IAAF Level 5 Endurance Coach, USTFCCCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Florida Department of Education Certified Athletics Coach (K-12)


Coach Aguas has worked with athletes of all ages to prepare for competitions from sprints to distance events. He has been running and competing since the age of 11 and became a student of the sport at a very young age. He graduated from South Miami Senior High where he assisted in coaching himself and his own team for a number of seasons. He would have competed collegiately, for the Florida International University Cross Country and Track Teams in the Fall of 2010 if not for an Achilles tendon injury. He has countless hours of volunteering in Track, Cross Country, and Road Races. As an athlete he has also competed at the District, State, and National levels for Track and Cross Country, as well as numerous Road Races both local and statewide.

Athletics in the Family: 


Son of Alberto Juantorena Danger, which is a former Cuban Track & Field athlete. His father is a 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist at the 1976 Montreal Olympics winning the 400m and 800m (becoming the only athlete male or female to win both events at a single Olympic Games, to this day he is the only one to achieve that feat). He is also a former world record holder in the 400m and 800m. 


Alberto Juantorena Danger is also the President of the Cuban Track & Field Federation, Vice President of the IAAF, and Senior Vice President of Sports in Cuba.

Coach Danny Martinez

Parent Volunteer Assistant Coach

Danny has been a vital part of the Miami Lakes Royal Oaks practices. He has helped coordinate numerous practices and continues to help out whenever he has the opportunity. 


Coach Martinez also has been a helper at many of our Road Races, Cross Country, and Track & Field competitions.


His passion and desire to help everyone on the team makes Danny a great asset to Miami Elite.


He also volunteers his time as the Cross Country coach at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School since the Fall 2915 Cross Country season.

Coach Martinez & his daughter Danielle, which started with Miami Elite January 2013.

Coach Celeste Romero

Volunteer Assistant Coach


Celeste is a member of the University of South Florida Track & Field and Cross Country Team. On the Track she competes in the 1500m and 5000m. During Cross Country the 5k and occasionally the 6k.


Currently majoring in Health Sciences, she plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has made the USF Dean's List 5 times as of Spring 2015.  


Her work ethic and desire to help others makes her a great match when helping and volunteering with our youth athletes.
